u.s.a., i have to agree with jack. i won't expound on that. you know, there was no way when i was deeply involved in the issue in the early 80s that i could've foreseen gorbachev. nor could i foreseen the treaty. the zero option when it was propounded was preposterous. i post it. so did the secretary of state. reviewed this and i guess this is the lesson. we view this is largely a challenge and an opportunity and strengthen the alliance. we saw ourselves under threat. the doublecheck decision on deployment of the missiles was part of a broader political military exercise to strengthen the alliance to deal with whatever the next challenge we would face from the soviet union. what i have to say is you have to learn to pay that and that's exactly what the reagan administration did when they found themselves with somebody they can do business with. it could and ronald reagan may have been the only guy in the administration that believed in the near option that by god u.n. after. and here i hav

marine corps, 20 members from the u.s. navy, 10 members the u.s. coast guard, where we will then partner with them and cross train them and use our techniques, reaching technical rescue and high and low rescue being demonstrated in display. we will also be having some of our u.s. navy personnel on ride-alongs with members on our ambulances, fire engines and trucks to continue with our cross training. so, it gives me great pride to be here to continue to serve as the fire chief, to welcome the military, and to say thank you to all of you. here's to an enjoyable fun-filled busy weekend. all the best, and thank you for your service. it was the largest riot in u.s. history. 3,000 people were injured, 60 people were killed, and we actually ended up at one point in time having to use live ammunition. but once we did, the bloods and the krips and the gangs there realized we were serious. the reason we got involved is because they learned none of the police departments within los angeles could talk to each other on their communications gear. they had a different piece of equipment in the los angeles county sheriff's department than the police department or the compton police or the watts police or whoever. we ended up, we were providing radios so they could talk to each other. and i said that that should never happen again. we should have interoperatable communications. there's some that say we aren't any better off today than we were in 1992. we don't know, but we had an exercise, part of this fleet week preparation exercise, put on by the department of emergency management and it involved a lot of various agencies and we looked at the command of c

there is a great lack of u.s. leadership under president obama this is the administration i think that has significantly led from behind. it's outsourced its own u.s. leadership on the world stage countries like france and turkey. this is not an administration that is interested in powerfully projecting american leadership internationally. we now see, of course, the middle east going up in flames. and there is absolutely no leadership whatsoever coming from washington at this time. i describe the obama president's foreign policy as an absolute disaster. one that has significantly undercut key u.s. allies, including of course israel and great britain while appeasing america's enemies on the world stage. from iran, for example through to sudan to north korea and now, of course, we see the situation in egypt significantly deteriorating. and barely a word of condemnation coming from the obama administration with regard to morsi's dictatorship in cairo. >> obviously retreating on freedoms without a doubt, clamping down
